Commentary on Meditations: B5:7

A prayer of the Athenian people:

Rain, rain, dear Zeus:
rain on the cornfields
and the plains of Athens.

Prayer should be thus simple and open, or not at all.

A simple request to Zeus, to grant what he typically grants.

We should love what happens.  Our will should not extend beyond what happens.
